Slot Machine Games Based on Manga

I don’t know whether to put this in the “General” or the “Offbeat” category.  There is a new online game called Bulletproof Babes.  It’s a slot machine game so I guess I won’t link to it from here.  You can read a review on this Website.  The geeky thing about this game is that it’s based on Manga.  Say goodbye to fruit bars and 7s.  Say hello to the Girls of Manga.

This game was obviously designed to appeal to younger audiences, “to mllennials”.  It’s interactive enough to almost be like a regular online game when the bonus round kicks in.

The artwork is stunning.  This is just not your mama’s slot machine game, boys and girls.

I don’t follow slot games very much but I know the land-based casinos have been rolling out slot machines based on television shows and movies.  If you haven’t played the Jurassic Park slot machine game you don’t know what you are missing.  You can chase dinosaurs all over the park.

After 100 years of people spinning reels on slot games maybe it’s time for some new interactivity in the business.  Does this mean that gambling is dying or that it is growing into a whole new area of entertainment?

Look at the controversy over fantasy football leagues.  Are they gambling or are they just good clean fun?  And since when is gambling not good clean fun?  Kids gamble for marbles all the time.  Or they used to.

I’m not ready to rumble with the weekly fantasy football crowd but if you get into that sort of thing check out a site called Savage Draft.  It’s a good introduction to the whole concept.

Maybe the next step in gambling is a virtual reality slot machine.  VentureBeat had an interesting article last year about virtual reality casinos.  If they are not here yet they are coming, people.  But seriously.  Do you really want to wear a goofy headset just so you can virtually spin three reels on a fake slot machine?

I think they’re going to have to step up their game and make the virtual gambling games more interactive.  You can’t expect players to just wait for the bonus rounds.  I’m not saying the games should play like Star Trek holodecks but, well, they should probably play like Star Trek holodecks.  Give a gambler a chance to win his money by taking on monsters and I don’t mean like in the Aliens slot machine game.  BORing.

We’re ready for something new in our entertainment.  Maybe the gambling industry will be the place where that happens.
